Isabel Morales Bondy is a Mexican-Danish nonfiction filmmaker based in London.
Having lived and worked in several countries, Isabel’s work explores the complexity of cultural perception. She is a BFI Doc Society Made of Truth grantee for her recently completed doc ‘Another Paradise’, about a troubled boy from Afghanistan living in foster care in England.
Her film ‘A Woman Like Me’, portraying the meeting between two deafblind women from different cultures, premiered at Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, was chosen as short of the week and recently received a Vimeo Staff Pick.
She is director of the non-profit Moving Stories which imparts documentary filmmaking workshops to unaccompanied asylum-seeking children. The project is recipient of National Lottery Funding as well as the Durham Wharf Award.
Isabel’s work as a director and self-shooter of educational documentaries has taken her to Brasil, Mexico, Nepal, Turkey, Niger, The Faroe Islands and across Europe.
Isabel holds an MA in Moving Image from the Royal College of Art and a BA in Television from the Danish School of Media and Journalism.
